I find streaming to be a good alternative to radio. Radio plays the same old shit over and over again and very rarely introduces you to new good music. But with streaming sites that point you in the direction of other music that you might like based on your listening habits it's a great way to find new stuff.
Side note: I stopped purchasing CD's years and years ago. Mainly because I was a student and couldn't afford food let alone music. I just downloaded all my music. It took away a lot of the 'specialness' (lack of a better word) behind the music. I still download music to test listen to it, but now if I like it I buy it on vinyl. Got to love the huge box art and makes listening to music a ritual, makes it more special.
