Bring Change is holding a "peaceful revolution concert" in Christchurch on Saturday 28 April against controversial mining practices in Canterbury "to help raise awareness about two very serious issues that would affect us all if given the go-ahead," says spokeswoman Karen DeLatour. The group is opposed to fracking and deep sea drilling in Canterbury and says the oil industry practices have potentially catastrophic environmental impacts, including links to earthquakes and groundwater toxicity.

Tiki Taane, Minuit and Opshop frontman Jason Kerrison, are amongst the musicians who are giving their time for free, contriuting to the concert on Riccarton Racecourse, Christchurch from 11am to 4pm. In recognition of the distress Cantabrians have had over the past 18 months, there will only be a gold coin koha.

Paul Dodge, of Minuit, said he decided to get behind the concert because he was "suspicious and angry" that the government was not listening to the people of Christchurch.

Taane also said he was passionate about the subject. "I've been pumping the No Frack NZ at my gigs and through social media, but this will be the first proper anti-fracking and seismic mapping concert I've played at, which is why I'm keen to be involved," he said.
